WHAT KIND OF CHURCH IS GATEWAY FELLOWSHIP?

We are a church planting church started by a church planting church. What started in the San Antonio area has spread to the nations and into the Hill Country here in Bandera. As part of the Gateway Fellowship Network, an international fellowship of like minded churches, we have a family bigger than our Sunday gatherings in one location, united in our mission is to "help friends become devoted followers of Jesus." We start with people right where they are and help them discover the love and call of God on their life to make disciples who make disciples. We want to point people to Jesus, help them take their next step in their relationship with Him and ultimately help them find their place in God's plan for the world.

OUR
STORY

Gateway Fellowship started as a small group of 8 people in John Van Pay’s living room on Labor Day weekend, 2007. With a God-sized burden, they wrote down the names of neighbors on a piece of butcher paper. A mission was born to help their friends become devoted followers of Jesus. This small group has grown to hundreds of small groups around the world.

John received a vision to start Gateway Fellowship Network, a church planting network. The purpose is to train and send teams to start new churches all over the world. One of those churches, Bandera, was started in 2019 in the same way.

In the winter of 2018, Gateway Fellowship received a phone call from a church in Bandera, TX and they said they needed help. A small group of friends went into the community and around the church and prayer walked and asked the Lord to give them a burden for Bandera.

And He did.

What began with 3 small groups of people gathering in houses has grown into multiple small groups of people who all meet together once a week throughout the community around dinner tables and once on Sunday morning. Our hope is that as we follow Jesus and trust His Lordship together we can heal and become more like Him together. As we become more devoted followers of Jesus together, our vision is to reach other parts of Bandera County and the unreached throughout the world. Will you join the mission King Jesus has given us?
